Your benefits at a glance
The AUTARX Carawater MaxFlow is an osmosis system specially developed for motorhomes and campers, which treats greywater from the waste water tank back into clean service water. This creates an almost closed water cycle, which significantly reduces dependence on external fresh water sources.
Like a compact mobile water treatment plant, the water passes through a multi-stage filter chain consisting of sediment, activated carbon, membrane, ultrafiltration and UV technology. Dirt particles, organic contaminants, germs and other impurities are removed. The treated water is then returned to the fresh water tank and is available for reuse.
The integrated 12V pressure pump and control enable autonomous operation directly in the vehicle. The aim of the system is to make the available amount of water usable for significantly longer and to enable longer stays at remote pitches - without constantly having to refill fresh water or leave the pitch for supply and disposal.
By treating greywater, AUTARX significantly extends the autonomy period in motorhomes and at the same time helps to use valuable water resources more consciously and sustainably.
The AUTARX Maxflow system by Carawater operates like a compact, multi-stage water treatment plant and is ideal for motorhomes and campers. Through the coordinated sequence of five filter stages, incoming water – e.g., from the grey water tank – is progressively treated to an ever finer degree. Filtration is electrically supported via a 12V pressure pump and separates the water into purified water and wastewater.
In the first stage, coarse contaminants such as sand, rust, and suspended solids are mechanically retained. The transparent filter housing allows for visual inspection of the contamination level and facilitates cleaning or replacement.
The second stage involves chemical pre-filtration. Reductions include:
This stage significantly improves odor and taste and reduces chemical contamination.
The core of the system is the high-performance membrane with a pore size of 0.0001 µm. It separates the water into purified water and wastewater – similar to stationary membrane systems. Dissolved substances larger than a water molecule are retained and discharged into the wastewater.
Before returning to the fresh water tank, the purified water is passed through an activated carbon block again.
For microbiological safety, a combination of hollow fiber membrane and UV-C LED is used. The double germ barrier further reduces bacteria and germs and increases hygienic safety.
An integrated flowmeter measures the amount of water produced and indicates when flushing or filter changes are necessary.
For system maintenance, AUTARX Maxflow features:
The optional automatic flushing unit detects fill levels and flushes the system with fresh water from the fresh water tank before and after production according to a timed schedule. Filter changes are recommended after 8,000–10,000 liters, depending on the model.
The combination of all filter stages creates a technical cycle that can significantly extend the period of self-sufficiency. The system reduces dependence on external fresh water supplies and allows for longer stays in remote locations.
The AUTARX MaxFlow (M) reverse osmosis system treats water at a rate of up to 30 liters per hour. It reduces coarse and fine particles, organic loads, and microbiological contaminants, and returns the filtered water to the fresh water system.
Depending on water quality, the following are reduced, among others:
The system is not designed as a classic water softening system. However, membrane filtration reduces dissolved solids above the pore size, which means that mineral components can also be partially retained.
The AUTARX MaxFlow is installed in the vehicle between the greywater tank and the freshwater tank. The system draws water from the greywater tank, treats it through several filter stages, and then returns the filtered water to the freshwater tank.
For installation, lines to the greywater tank (suction and return), a connection to the freshwater tank, and a 12V power supply are required. This creates a closed water circuit, which allows for longer self-sufficient standing times.
Basically, you can install your AUTARX Maxflow system yourself. However, we recommend professional installation by our installation service. This way you ensure that everything is optimally connected – and you also receive a guarantee on the installation.

The filter change for the AUTARX MaxFlow is model-dependent and is scheduled after approximately 8,000 to 10,000 liters of treated water. The integrated flow meter monitors the amount of water produced and indicates in good time when flushing or a filter change is necessary.
Specific costs for filter changes depend on the respective filter set and model and are specified separately by the manufacturer. This allows for targeted planning of filter replacement as needed.
Two openings are needed in the greywater tank:
The suction line from the greywater tank is first connected to the 10" sediment pre-filter, which retains coarse impurities.
From the sediment filter, the line continues to the pressure pump and then to the AUTARX box, where further water treatment takes place.
One of the hose connections from the AUTARX box is led back into the greywater tank. The wastewater generated during filtration is discharged via this line.
The second hose connection leads via a flow meter, which records the amount of water produced and acoustically indicates necessary backwashes.
After the flow meter, the filtered water is fed into the freshwater tank. A 20 mm bore is also required here for routing the line.
The system is operated via a 12V / 8A power supply. Activation is done via a manual switch.
