What Alvito water filters are available?

Alvito offers two basic types of water filter systems: countertop filters, which connect directly to the faucet, and under-sink filters, which are permanently installed under the sink. Both variants operate on the principle of activated carbon filtration.

Alvito Countertop Filters

A countertop filter is placed on the countertop next to the sink and connected directly to the faucet. This option is usually a bit more affordable, particularly easy to install, and can be flexibly used in different locations if needed.

Alvito Under-Sink Filters

An under-sink filter is discreetly installed under the sink and is practically invisible in everyday use. The filtered water is then dispensed via a separate drinking water faucet or – depending on the installation variant – via a special combined faucet. Therefore, in some cases, an additional faucet may be required for installation.

The heart of Alvito water filters: the filter cartridges

The true heart of Alvito systems are the replaceable filter cartridges, which are available in five different performance levels.

Inside these filter cartridges, sintered activated carbon blocks are used. Finely ground activated carbon is compacted under high pressure into a solid filter body. The result is a particularly uniform and fine pore structure through which the water flows through a dense channel system – similar to natural deep filtration.

Unlike loosely packed activated carbon granules, these activated carbon blocks enable finer and more uniform filtration.

Some Alvito filter cartridges also combine activated carbon filtration with additional functions such as membrane filtration, improved limescale protection, or water vitalization.

What substances can Alvito water filters reduce from tap water?

Alvito water filters are generally designed to reduce typical undesirable substances in tap water, while largely retaining natural minerals.

According to Alvito, the substance groups that can be reduced by the filter technologies used include:

• Microplastics
• Medicine residues, hormones, and hormone-like substances
• Chlorine and chlorine by-products
• Organic compounds such as PFAS, pesticides and pesticide residues, herbicides, or insecticides
• Certain heavy metals such as lead and copper
• Asbestos fibers
• Bacteria, germs, and legionella

Which substances can be reduced in individual cases always depends on the specific filter cartridge.

Do Alvito water filters also remove limescale?

Most Alvito filter cartridges are not designed to remove limescale from the water.

One exception is the Alvito ABF Primus CLC block filter. This filter combines activated carbon filtration with EM ceramics for water vitalization and a special limescale protection granulate. Limescale is not filtered out, but rather modified so that deposits on surfaces and in household appliances are less likely to accumulate.

This can reduce limescale residues in kettles or coffee machines, for example, while retaining natural minerals in the water.
