Which water is healthy?

24 Jun 2025

Water is important

A crucial question, because water plays a central role in all life processes. If an organism or a single cell is deprived of water, life ends immediately. Therefore, we want to find out what properties water must have to optimally support our bodily and cellular functions.

There are many opinions on the internet about the perfect water, and our customers also regularly ask:

• Does healthy water have to be alkaline?
• Are minerals in water important?
• Which pollutants should definitely not be present in the water?
• Which limit values must be observed?
• Should water be vitalized, swirled, or energized?

There are scientific studies on many of these questions, but they have brought us more confusion than clarity. Often, one study confirms a fact, while another refutes it.

Therefore, it makes more sense for us to take nature as a model. Nature designs its life processes optimally and harmoniously, much better than we could alone. In addition, nature is honest and does not want to sell us anything. What kind of water has nature intended for us?

Well, that is the water that humans and animals have mainly drunk over the last
hundreds of thousands of years. Originally, we humans drank water directly from nature - rivers, streams, lakes, and occasionally springs. Our body has optimally adapted to this water over the course of evolution.

What properties did this natural water have in the past? How does nature filter
water?

First of all, it was mostly quite pure water, free of all the pollutants that are now introduced into nature by humans. This water was regularly purified by nature's large water filter. This water filter works on the principle of distillation. Due to solar heat, water evaporates from the oceans, from plant leaves, from the earth's surface, etc. All impurities remain on the earth, and the evaporated water rises into the air. There it cools down and condenses into the finest droplets of pure water, which then appear as clouds and rain down somewhere as rain. In this way, the purified water, free of pollutants and minerals, returned to earth.

Healthy water in nature

After the low-mineral, pure water has rained down on the earth, it comes into contact with the soil and begins to lightly enrich itself with the minerals contained in the soil. It then collects in rivers and lakes and in groundwater. In groundwater, it is even more enriched with minerals, as it is constantly in contact with sand or rock.

Should water be enriched with minerals or is water without minerals better?

The surface water, which humans and animals used to drink mainly from rivers and lakes,
was therefore low-mineral water. The amount and
composition of minerals in the water depends in detail on the geological
conditions. However, it generally applies that this surface water contains significantly fewer minerals than groundwater, which comes into much stronger contact with mineral-containing rock in the soil layers. Surface water usually simply has much less time to accumulate minerals than groundwater, which can remain in the soil for a long time.

The frequently encountered opinion that healthy water should contain many minerals and
trace elements is refuted here by nature. Nature shows us that the human organism has adapted more to low-mineral water.

According to our current knowledge, the supply of vital minerals and trace elements occurs through plant-based food, which is better suited for this purpose and can also be better utilized by the cells. The main task of water is to be a transport medium. It transports dissolved nutrients from the digestive system into the cells and waste products from the cells out of the body. The fewer substances, and especially the fewer minerals, in the water, the more transport capacity the water has!

From these considerations, we conclude that pure, low-mineral water is best suited for humans.

Should it be vitalized, swirled, or energetically treated?

Water can be vitalized, revitalized, or energized through various methods to improve its natural quality. The path from its origin in nature to the tap undergoes many changes and encounters with pollutants. Air pollution and soil contact already introduce pollutants into the water before it reaches the wells of the waterworks. Transport through straight pipelines with pumps differs from the natural movement in streams, which can also affect the water's energy. Vitalization attempts to return the water to a natural state and improve its energetic properties to achieve better water quality.

According to our own experiences and the feedback from our customers, water vitalization has positive effects that can also affect the taste. The water simply tastes much fresher, just as if it were drunk directly from a spring. We are firmly convinced that water, after thorough purification, should be returned to its original state by imitating natural processes. For this purpose, we use water whirlers and energizing modules to revitalize and energetically enhance the water, similar to what happens in nature.

Should I make water alkaline?

Naturally, such low-mineral water is neutral to slightly acidic. Small amounts of CO2 from the air dissolve in the water and form carbonic acid – a completely natural process. Now there are clever developments that want to make the water even better. For example, there are ionizers that electrically separate it into an acidic and an alkaline component. The alkaline water is then supposed to help bring an overacidified body back into the alkaline range. Or there are devices that introduce free hydrogen into the water, intending to make it even healthier.

It is certainly possible to achieve a health improvement in certain situations with such techniques. In our opinion, however, the first step should always be a comprehensive purification of the water, and only then can such extensions to a system be considered.

Summary – What is healthy water?

Finally, we summarize once again what properties good, healthy drinking water should have for us:

  • It is pure and free of pollutants.
  • It is not or only weakly mineralized.
  • It is vital and energized.
